The story of the Lytvynchuk family. “We were a few minutes away from death.”

Ruslana Lytvynchuk, her husband, her son, and her daughter-in-law lived in their house in Berezivka. The day after the full-scale invasion, the children left, but Ruslana and her husband decided to stay because they did not think that the hostilities would last long.
The couple met occupiers in their village and noticed how they were walking around neighboring houses, destroying or stealing property. When they saw that the cars of their fellow villagers were being fired upon, the family hid their car hoping to save it, but the occupiers saw it, and their vehicle suffered the same fate, “We were afraid to approach the car, we thought it was mined”, Ruslana shared.

On March 21, the family decided to evacuate from Berezivka to the Zhytomyr region, to their parents, “When the walls and roof were shot through, we realized that we had to leave. We got together early and when we drove away a little further from the house, the first shell had already hit it. We waited at the exit with the rest of the cars, and my husband and our friend ran to check what there was, they wanted to save something, but nothing could be done.” According to Mrs. Ruslana, the invaders entered her family’s house, that’s why they knew that people lived there, but they still shot at it.

After April 14, the family came back home. Ruslana works in a store, her husband and son armor cars for the Armed Forces, and her daughter-in-law teaches at school.
The family plans to rebuild, but they do not have the resources for this yet.
Thanks to the contribution from OLX Ukraine, we have installed a 4-module NEST-house for the Lytvynchuk family
