The story of the Tsapenko family. “When we arrived, there was nothing to look at, my heart stopped.”

There are 5 people in Tsapenko’s family: Mrs. Larysa, her husband, who is going to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a 21-year-old son who is doing military service. Larysa’s brother and their mother, Mrs. Liubov, also live with them.

The Tsapenko family has lived in this yard for generations since 1985, but a projectile fell on the crossroad in front of their house and the family’s house was badly damaged by the blast wave.

Tanks were moving along their street, the bus stop was damaged by the shots, and only one window was broken in their house. However, the house did not survive the explosion from the projectile. “Neighbours called and said that we shouldn’t come, that everything was fine. But when we arrived, there was nothing to look at, so my heart stopped”, said Larysa.

The family quickly evacuated from the village, using their work and home cars. They worried about leaving in time. Right after the end of hostilities, the Tatenko family cultivated the garden, however, they can’t live in their own yard.

Currently, the family rents housing, Larysa and her husband work at a gas station, but the family wants to return home.

Thanks to the contribution from OLX Ukraine, we have installed a 6-module NEST-house for the big Tsapenko family
