The story of the Tereshchuk family. “There was a police station nearby, they probably wanted to hit it.”

This house was built by Oleksandr’s grandfather. When we asked how big their family was, the mother started to bend her fingers: three sons, two daughters-in-law, and a grandson! The house was small but warm. “They are always arguing with me that I planted flowers like this, and there is no place to park the car. And for me, those roses, tulips, forget-me-nots are so beautiful!”, Oleksandr’s wife shared.

It hit the house between March 9 and 15. There was a police station nearby, apparently, russians aimed to destroy it, but they hit the house of the Tereshchuk family instead.

The wife works as a postman in Makariv. Although the husband is retired, he used to work. He set up and repaired sewing machines for the entire factory. However, the factory burned down, so now he works part-time as a watchman.

No one in the family thought that everything would turn out like this. Neither equipment and clothes, nor photos were taken from the house. “I remember, I haven’t even worn two dresses yet. One was intended for my anniversary.”

The family returned home sometime at the end of April-May. Father and mother were sheltered by relatives from a neighboring village. The wife had to return to work, and although the post office burned down, pensions had to be delivered. If any of the residents could not come by July, the woman would get on a bicycle and deliver them.

The family had not touched the ruins of the house yet, because they had no idea what to do next. They dream of returning to the family nest where they have lived for generations.

Thanks to the contribution from OLX Ukraine, we have installed a 4-module NEST-house for the Tereshchuk family
