“I don’t know how he will exist”. The story of Valerii from Makariv

Valerii’s friend who came under tank fire with him

Valerii, an orphan, lived in his house in Makariv. After the start of the war, he joined the Territorial Defence Forces, and on the 27th of February, together with a friend, he came under tank fire. As a result, he lost his leg. Shortly after that, his house was destroyed by the russian occupiers.

Thanks to acquaintances and volunteer organizations, Valerii was taken to Germany for rehabilitation. According to his friend, Valerii was one of the best loader drivers at the enterprise in Makariv, but he will no longer be able to work with his disability.

Valerii will return to Makariv very soon and see with his own eyes that only the foundation remained of his house.

Our goal was to raise $15,000 to install a modular NEST house for Valerii.
Our team got a grant from the William Demant Foundation, which covered Valerii’s house.
